Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Manager for an onsite contract position in Austin, TX. Lead the HIM department, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and availability of patient records while coordinating with Compliance, Legal, and Security teams.

The role requires 5–6 years in a hospital setting with Rev Cycle experience, strong leadership, and the ability to drive metrics and process improvements across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• 5-6 years in a hospital setting—Rev Cycle experience.
• Leading a team with patient charts, billing, medical records, scanning; understanding the records flow.
• Release of Information (ROI) of health records.
• Ability to set metrics and ensure goals/quotas are met.
• Strong leadership and teaching abilities.
• Experience working with Ascension and providing updates, stats.
• Manage staff within budget and determine headcount to handle workload.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily HIM operations to meet SLAs and productivity targets.
• Lead, coach, and develop HIM staff, supervisors, and team leads.
• Set departmental goals, monitor performance metrics, and implement process improvements.
• Ensure staffing, workload distribution, and resource utilization.
• Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and customer service.
• Oversee medical records, scanning, indexing, and release of information processes.
• Ensure accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and availability of patient information.
• Monitor compliance with documentation standards and retention requirements.
• Support audits and regulatory reviews as needed.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Security on data protection initiatives.
• Investigate and resolve potential HIM compliance concerns.
• Maintain readiness for internal and external audits.
