Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate preschool curricula and develop individualized education plans in collaboration with the Education Coordinator and MRDC team.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or related field, background check clearance, and prior classroom experience. The position is 11 months, operates in a school environment, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Pass criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.
• At least one year of early childhood classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children per guidance from leadership.
• Refer children with potential special needs to appropriate staff and implement IEPs.
• Foster a positive learning atmosphere encouraging curiosity and exploration.
• Maintain comprehensive portfolio assessments and weekly observations for each child.
• Collaborate with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team to ensure smooth operations.
• Supervise children at all times and use positive behavior management strategies.
• Attend trainings, staff meetings, and maintain confidential records.
