Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans for preschoolers (ages 3-5) in a supportive, collaborative team.

You will work with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team to guide daily activities, field trips, and hands-on learning, ensuring alignment with Head Start standards and a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood development principles.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse families.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children per guidance from leadership.
• Refer children suspected of needing support to appropriate staff.
• Implement behavior plans and IEPs with the team and families.
• Foster a positive learning atmosphere encouraging creativity, curiosity, and exploration.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
• Supervise children at all times and use positive behavior management strategies.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings to enhance professional skills.
• Ensure files are complete, accurate, and confidential.
