Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) is seeking a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans for preschool children (ages 3–5) in collaboration with the Site Supervisor and MRDC team.

The role emphasizes implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, maintaining child portfolios, and coordinating with families, schools, and mental health professionals to support each child’s growth within Head Start standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum per guidance; individualize instruction as needed
• Follow Head Start Performance Standards in all duties
• Refer children with potential special needs or challenging behavior to appropriate staff
• Implement behavior plans and IEPs with the team, families, schools, and mental health professionals to ensure least restrictive environments
• Guide daily activities and field trips; organize equipment and materials in the classroom
• Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child with weekly observations and samples
