Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Head Start Co-Teacher (Substitute) to provide a dynamic learning environment for children ages 0–5. You will deliver varied activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in line with Head Start goals.

This on-site role requires fingerprint clearance, background checks, and compliance with health screenings and immunizations. The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED with 12 ECE/CD units, or be enrolled in VOALA

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance/background check
• Must have automobile with adequate insurance or reliable transport
• TB clearance within 6 months, annual influenza vaccine, pertussis and measles immunization
• Health screening required at time of employment

Responsibilities

• Provide a developmentally appropriate program of activities for 0–5-year-olds
• Plan and implement morning and afternoon sessions (double sessions)
• Observe and assess children's development and set individualized goals
• Foster parent involvement and connect HS services within the learning environment
• Maintain health, safety, and licensing-compliant classroom conditions
• Perform other duties as required and may change
