Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles seeks a Co‑Teacher for Head Start/ Early Head Start programs in Los Angeles. You will create a nurturing classroom with diverse activities to support social, emotional, and physical development for children aged 0–5, while coordinating closely with a Family Advocate and a Co‑Teacher.

The role requires on-site presence, capacity to lift up to 50 lbs, and compliance with health and licensing standards.

Qualifications

• AA in ECE/CD with 24 units OR AA in related field with 24 CD units.
• BA in ECE/CD with 24 ECE/CD units preferred.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide an environment with varied activities to aid social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.
• Plan and implement the Head Start curriculum for double sessions (morning and afternoon).
• Coordinate with Co-Teacher and Family Advocate to involve families in learning.
• Incorporate Head Start services into the learning (parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health).
• Observe and assess development and set goals for each child.
• Maintain child records and submit monthly paperwork on time.
• Ensure safety and licensing compliance and adapt activities to reflect diverse backgrounds.
