Job summary

SCMCAA is seeking a Head Start Director to lead the project, supervise component specialists and coordinate with the Policy Council. The role directs budgeting, funding applications, reporting, and program policy compliance from the central office.

You will oversee planning, staff development, and cross-agency collaboration to achieve program goals and ensure high-quality early childhood services in the community.

Qualifications

• BS degree in education, early childhood, child development, social services or related field.
• Knowledge of basic management theory, practices and methods; at least one year of application.
• Ability to prepare funding proposals and budgets.
• Knowledge of laws and funding source regulations applicable to the program.
• Ability to train and develop staff.
• Ability to coordinate program with other agency programs.
• Ability to speak effectively in public.

Responsibilities

• Achieve or exceed the project’s overall goals.
• Develop and implement a planning process, including work plans and budgets.
• Prepare funding applications for submission to funding sources.
• Develop and monitor budgets for all project funds.
• Ensure expenditures are within budget allocations.
• Secure resources to meet federal grant requirements.
• Maintain program records and required reports.
• Advise Executive Director on planning and policy matters.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and impact.
