Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. seeks a Director of Planning and Production Control to optimize production planning, inventory management, and material flow. You will lead a team and coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, and engineering to meet demand with efficient resource use.

The role drives continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and KPI reporting to senior leadership, with a focus on aerospace manufacturing excellence and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field or 12+ years equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 5+ years in a leadership role; deep understanding of SIOP, MRP, master scheduling and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement production planning strategies aligning with organizational goals and optimizing resources.
• Oversee master production schedules and align with demand forecasts, capacity, and materials availability.
• Direct inventory control of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to minimize excess while meeting production needs.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in production planning and control processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of planning and production control professionals.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, engineering and sales to coordinate operations.
• Monitor and mitigate risks related to delays, shortages, and capacity constraints.
• Establish and track KPIs; provide regular reports to senior leadership.
• Manage departmental budget and control costs related to planning and material handling.
• Utilize APS and ERP tools to enhance planning accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols.
