Job summary

Athlete To Athlete in Santa Monica, CA is seeking a hands-on People & Business Operations leader to own the employee lifecycle, payroll, and core People programs. You will keep the Santa Monica office running smoothly and build scalable processes as we grow.

Reporting to the COO and collaborating with the founders, you will guide onboarding, benefits, performance reviews, recruiting coordination, and workplace operations, shaping a strong, people-first culture committed to supporting

Qualifications

• 4+ years across People Operations, HR, and experience owning business operations.
• Experience as the sole People/HR person in a startup or small company.
• Direct payroll experience with hands-on processing and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of California employment compliance and wage/hour basics.
• Discretion, judgment, and handling sensitive information.
• Clear writing and reliable follow-through in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the employee lifecycle, onboarding, performance reviews, and policies.
• Manage payroll semi-monthly and coordinate with Insperity for benefits.
• Serve as first point of contact for employees on policies and benefits.
• Coordinate office operations, vendor management, and workspace setup.
• Maintain HR records and drive process improvements across functions.
• Support recruiting coordination and employee experience initiatives.
