Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC in Redmond, WA is seeking a Director of Embedded Software Engineering to lead mission-critical embedded software for satellite bus systems, including flight software, RTOS, avionics, and on-orbit validation.

You will architect the software stack, manage end-to-end bring-up, and lead system testing to readiness for launch and on-orbit operations, while building a high-performing engineering organization in constrained hardware environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of embedded software development for mission-critical systems.
• Experience building and scaling engineering organizations (100+ people).
• Strong background in aerospace/space systems and RTOS design.
• Ability to lead multiple teams and manage directors and senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end embedded software architecture for satellite bus systems.
• Lead RTOS implementations and Linux OS solutions for spacecraft.
• Oversee hardware bring-up, testing, and SDLC pipelines for space systems.
• Guide on-orbit software testing, FDIR, and health monitoring.
• Drive collaboration with Hardware Eng teams and regulatory bodies.
