Job summary

Greylock Partners seeks a Head of Design to own and shape the product experience from the ground up. This is a highly hands-on leadership role, setting vision and standards while also designing core product experiences, prototyping ideas, and shipping in collaboration with the founders and engineering team.

You will shape the entire developer experience, from core UI to APIs, SDKs, and other surfaces, and establish scalable design language and systems as the company grows while remaining deeply

Greylock has a long history of partnering with category-defining enterprise companies, and we're excited to be working with an early-stage startup building a critical developer platform for the AI era.

As AI changes how software is built and operated, developers need an entirely new set of tools to understand, manage, and improve increasingly complex systems. This company is tackling one of the most important problems in that emerging stack, with an experienced founding team and strong early momentum. Much like the best developer platforms from Datadog to Stripe, the product experience itself has the potential to become a meaningful differentiator. Powerful infrastructure needs to feel intuitive, fast, and remarkably easy to use.

The Role

We're looking for a Head of Design to own and define the product experience from the ground up. This is a highly hands-on leadership role. You'll set the design vision and standards for the company, but you'll also be the person doing the work, designing core product experiences, prototyping new ideas, working through complex workflows, and partnering directly with the founders and engineering team to ship.

You'll have the opportunity to shape the full developer experience, from the core product UI to APIs, SDKs, and other surfaces developers interact with. You'll also establish the design language, systems, and principles that can scale with the company over time. This is an opportunity for someone who wants the scope and ownership of a design leader while remaining deeply involved in the craft.

Please note, this role is 5 days a week in office, in San Francisco

You likely have:

• Experience leading design for 0→1 B2B, infrastructure, developer, or technically complex products
• Exceptional product thinking and an ability to turn complex technical concepts into intuitive experiences
• Strong interaction and visual design craft
• A track record of personally designing and shipping products - and a desire to remain hands-on
• The ability to move from user insight and product strategy through flows, prototypes, high-fidelity design, and launch
• Experience partnering closely with founders, product, and engineering
• Strong judgment and the ability to establish a point of view on what great design should look like as the company scales

Experience with modern developer tools is particularly compelling. We'd love to see what you've built - whether that's production code, prototypes, side projects, GitHub contributions, or experiments with new AI tools. Bonus points if you're already experimenting with LLMs, prompting, AI-assisted prototyping, or new ways of designing and building software.
