Job summary

Farm Family is seeking a senior underwriting leader to helm Commercial Lines strategy and execution, directing daily operations and mentoring staff on-site at a designated office. The role coordinates with Actuarial, Data & Analytics, Claims, Risk Services, and Compliance to ensure governance and profitable pricing.

The successful candidate will drive underwriting philosophy, manage referrals and large complex risks, and align workflow with service-level agreements, with 25% travel and a strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 10+ years of P&C commercial underwriting experience.
• 5–10 years of progressive leadership and management experience.
• Professional designations CPCU, ARM, AFIS, or AINS.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven strategic planning and change-management abilities.
• Willingness to travel overnight up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting strategies aligned with company goals and market conditions.
• Monitor profitability with detailed financial and operational analyses.
• Direct underwriting staff and succession planning efforts.
• Collaborate with Actuarial, Data & Analytics, Claims, Risk Services, Compliance.
• Maintain broker and agent relationships to identify opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting authority, governance, and audits.
• Oversee placing and binding of FAC Reinsurance.
