Job summary

Farm Family, a leading insurer specializing in farm and ranch protection, seeks a senior underwriter leader to drive strategy and execution for the Commercial Lines portfolio. The role oversees daily operations, coaching staff, and collaborating across departments to meet service targets.

The position requires 10+ years in P&C underwriting and 5–10 years of leadership, with CPCU/ARM/AFIS/AINS designations preferred. This on-site role includes 25% travel and a competitive bonus with full benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 10 years of P&C commercial underwriting experience.
5 to 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience.
Designations: CPCU, ARM, AFIS, or AINS.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Travel required (approximately 25%).

Responsibilities

Develop and execute underwriting strategies aligned with company goals.
Monitor underwriting performance including rate, reserve adequacy, and profitability.
Lead and develop underwriting staff with focus on performance and succession planning.
Collaborate with Actuarial, AI/Data & Analytics, Claims, Risk Services, and Compliance.
Maintain broker/agent relationships to identify opportunities and insights.
Ensure compliance with underwriting authority, audit criteria, and catastrophe management practices.
Oversee placing and binding of FAC reinsurance and related guidelines.
