Job summary

Farm Family is seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter to independently evaluate and manage complex commercial insurance risks in line with company guidelines. You will determine coverage terms and pricing, supporting disciplined growth within an assigned portfolio.

The role involves mentoring newer underwriters, collaborating with agents and internal partners, and ensuring underwriting records meet regulatory standards. Strong communication and judgment are essential.

Qualifications

• Six to eight years of underwriting experience or equivalent P&C/Commercial industry knowledge.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations across applicable commercial lines.
• Apply classifications, coverage forms, endorsements, deductibles, and limits based on exposure analysis.
• Ensure policy terms, conditions, and pricing comply with filed rates, rules, and regulations.
• Document underwriting decisions clearly in underwriting systems.
• Negotiate terms within authority to balance profitability and competitive positioning.
• Mentor or coach less experienced underwriters.
