Job summary

Farm Family is seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter to independently evaluate, underwrite, and manage complex commercial risks in line with guidelines and profitability goals. The role requires mentoring, collaboration with agents and internal partners, and guiding underwriting decisions across a portfolio.

Responsibilities include reviewing new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations, applying classifications and limits, ensuring compliance with rates and state rules, and

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Six to eight years of underwriting experience in P&C or commercial insurance.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain underwriting decisions clearly.
• Mentoring experience for junior underwriters.
• Knowledge of commercial coverages, policy forms, endorsements, and rating methodology.
• Familiarity with ISO forms and state-specific rules.
• Professional designations such as AINS, AU, or CPCU are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
• Apply classifications, coverage forms, endorsements, deductibles, and limits.
• Ensure policy terms and pricing comply with rates, rules, state regulations, and company standards.
• Document underwriting decisions clearly in underwriting systems.
• Mentor and support other underwriters; collaborate with agents and internal partners.
• Manage assigned book to support profitability, growth, and retention.
• Educate and train agents on underwriting procedures and products.
