Job summary

The University of Bridgeport seeks an ESPORTS team leader who recruits, trains, and guides players to excel academically and athletically while upholding the university's mission.

You will organize training, schedule contests, manage budgets, and coordinate travel, while building a strong recruiting system and promoting the program within the ECAC guidelines.

This role requires weekday evenings and weekends and a commitment to integrity, sportsmanship, and student development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
• CPR/AED certification.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Coaching at collegiate level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent the University of Bridgeport and Athletic Department with integrity and quality.
• Promote and support the university's mission and the athletics program.
• Provide leadership in planning and operating the ESPORTS program and admin duties.
• Organize training and contests and manage budgets as established by the department.
• Develop and maintain a recruiting system and promote the program to prospective student-athletes.
• Schedule contests and coordinate travel for away contests; enforce discipline and sportsmanship.

The eSports program is expected to recruit student-athletes that can be successful academically, socially and athletically at the University of Bridgeport, meeting a minimum roster size of 25 unique student-athletes each year;Major Task, Duties and Responsibility:Represent the University of Bridgeport and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality.Promote and support the University of Bridgeport and its mission.Promote and support the University of Bridgeport Athletic Department’s program mission and goals.Promote the eSports programProvide leadership in the planning and operation of the program.Administer eSports program within the policies of University of Bridgeport and the ECAC.Organize training and contestsAdhere to operating, and equipment budgets as established by the Athletic Department.Delegate responsibilities to staff, student workersDevelop and maintain a successful recruiting system while maintaining a high level of visibility.Assist in promotion and public relations activities for the University of Bridgeport Athletic Department.Schedule contests in accordance with the policies set forth by the University of Bridgeport Athletic & Recreation DepartmentsCoordinate travel and meal considerations for away contests.Enforce discipline and sportsmanship behavior.Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of AthleticsQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred;CPR/AED certification;Excellent verbal and written communication skills;Coaching and /or participation at collegiate level preferredKnowledge and experience in eSportsAbility to work weekdays, evenings and weekends;Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and meet University of Bridgeport’s Driving Requirements ;Willingness to fundraise;(This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between The University of Bridgeport and employee.
