The University of Bridgeport is seeking a motivated wrestling coach to recruit, train and mentor the men’s team, promoting student-athlete success academically, athletically and socially. You will assist the head coach and help operate the program within department and NCAA guidelines.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), CPR/AED certification, and coaching experience. This role requires weekdays/evenings/weekends and a valid driver’s license.

Position Description Summary/Purpose:

Recruits, trains and provides guidance to members of the men’swrestling team in a manner which promotes the academic, athleticand social success of athletes and is consistent with the missionand goals of the University of Bridgeport Athletic Department.Assist the head men’s wrestling coach with duties assigned.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

1. Represent the University of Bridgeport and the AthleticDepartment in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity andquality.
2. Promote and support the University of Bridgeport and itsmission.
3. Promote and support the University of Bridgeport AthleticDepartment’s program mission and goals.
4. Assist with all aspects of the wrestling program; providesopportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reachtheir full potential including recruiting.
5. Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of thedepartment and the University, as well as the rules and regulationsof the NCAA, CACC, and any other authorities that affect theintercollegiate athletic program
6. Assist the head coach in planning and operation of theprogram.
7. Provide leadership in implementation of the program.
8. Perform duties as assigned by head coach and/or AthleticDirector
9. Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safetypractices are followed.

Other Functions:

• Performs similar or related work as required, directed or assituation dictates.
• Continues professional development and training; keeps currentwith trends.
• Assists other department staff as needed to promote a teameffort.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

• Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering bestpractices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion,and build an environment in which all members of the Universitycommunity are treated with respect and dignity.
• Experience in the sport of lacrosse

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:

The qualifications required would generally be acquired with or anyequivalent combination of education, work experience andtraining.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; advanced degreepreferred;
• CPR/AED certification;
• College participation and/or coaching preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Coaching and /or participation at collegiate level preferred;demonstrated ability and passion to teach and demonstrate skills ofwrestling:
• Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends;
• Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and meetUniversity of Bridgeport’s Driving Requirements;
• Willingness to fundraise;
• Ability to interact with all levels of the universitycommunity.
