Job description

Overview

University of Bridgeport is seeking candidates for the position of Graduate Admissions Officer. This position recruits prospective students, facilitates admission requirements, and provides support and guidance to prospective students throughout the enrollment process. This position will be located in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate all enrollment activities for students pursuing graduate enrollment with emphasis on inquiries and applications.
  • Assess student needs and present information on how the University of Bridgeport can support personal, academic, and professional goals.
  • Serve as liaison with cooperating departments, delivering extensive student service and support.
  • Provide appropriate follow up with prospective students via phone, email, text, and in-person outreach.
  • Collect necessary documents and paperwork toward enrollment (applications, transcripts, etc.).
  • Liaise with faculty regarding applicant information; advocate for students and communicate effectively with university stakeholders.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and host prospective student webinars.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of program curriculum, costs, financial aid, and career outcomes for both full-time and part-time options.
  • Participate in Graduate and Undergraduate open houses and accepted student days.
  • Participate in local travel, in-person and virtual recruitment events.
  • Assist students with reviewing their bills and submitting and accepting financial aid awards.
  • Register students for classes and advise on course load.
  • Build and develop relationships with UB’s corporate partners.
  • Conduct work in a safe manner and follow safety practices.
Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 6 months of experience in admissions in a post-secondary educational environment or sales and customer service experience.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

  • Communication and active listening skills.
  • Collaborative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of all University academic programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Office and SonisWeb; Slate and Datatel Colleague experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
