Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a HazMat Field Driver/Technician to transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste to generator sites, operating Class A trucks and various trailers. The role may include occasional straight truck work, with a Monday–Friday schedule and potential 3–4 overnight shifts based on routes and customer needs.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physical loading/unloading tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate multiple truck types including roll-offs, tankers, and tractor-trailers.
• Perform LTL pickups and bulk/containerized waste collections.
• Maintain driver documents: logbook, permit book, trip reports, waste manifests, etc.
• Comply with DOT regulations for hazardous waste, including placarding, loading, segregation and labeling.
• Adhere to state weight limit laws and safe driving practices.
• Use company mobile apps and maintenance software as directed.
• Conduct DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Assist in keeping facilities and grounds clean and organized.
• May perform lab pack and field service technician duties as needed.
• Participate in Site Safety program and required training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
