Job summary

Clean Harbors in Sterling Heights, MI is hiring an Environmental General Laborer to join our safety-conscious team in the field. This role covers hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, ability to perform physically demanding tasks, and willingness to be on call for emergency response. Training is provided and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation required.
• Ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities.
• On-call requirement; weekends/holidays may be needed; emergency responses can extend beyond 8 hours, up to 12–24 hrs.
• Complete a background check, drug test, and physical per position.
• Meet facial hair standards per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.34.

Responsibilities

• Follow health and safety policies and work safely at all times.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and hand tools.
• Use PPE and respirators properly.
• Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors.
