Job summary

Clean Harbors in East Chicago, IN is seeking an Environmental Field Laborer to join our safety conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

Team members will be primarily responsible for safe and compliant transfer of bulk materials from tankers to railcars.

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation required.
• Must be able to perform physical functions per job responsibilities.
• On-call; may require weekends/holidays and emergency response stays long.
• Pass background check, drug test, and physical.
• Comply with respirator facial hair standards per OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by following policies and acting safely.
• Perform strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and various hand tools; work with vibration-producing tools.
• Wear and use PPE including respirators and protective gear.
• Work in varied temperatures and weather conditions indoors and outdoors.
• Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste safely; assist in field sampling and meter calibration.
• Climb ladders/scaffolding and work from trucks, tanks, and containers.
• Be available for on-call emergency response on rotating basis.
• Attend safety and compliance meetings and observe all EH&S guidelines.
