Job summary

Clean Harbors in Elgin, IL is seeking a Field Services Technician I to join our safety-conscious team. This role supports hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials in the field.

You will work in varying conditions, adhere to PPE and safety protocols, lift heavy objects, operate light and heavy equipment, and participate in on-call emergency response on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation and able to perform physical functions stated in responsibilities.
• Willingness to be on-call for emergencies, including long shifts when required.
• Successful completion of background check, drug test, and physical.
• Compliance with respiratory protection standards per OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety, following all policies and procedures.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and use various hand tools and powered tools.
• Wear appropriate PPE and respirators, and follow safety protocols in all conditions.
• Work outdoors in all weather, in potentially hazardous environments.
• Assist in field sampling, calibration of meters, and waste handling.
• Climb ladders/scaffolding; work in elevated or confined spaces.
• Be on-call for emergency response on a rotating basis.
