Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Chemical Processing Operator I to handle and package hazardous and non-hazardous materials in full compliance with safety and environmental regulations. You will collaborate with TSDF Technicians in warehouses, plants, and outdoor settings, and mentor new hires on procedures.

The role requires knowledge of DOT, EPA, and OSHA rules, PPE proficiency, and a detail-oriented approach. Training, safety, and quality are emphasized across responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
• Ability to wear and safely use PPE including air-purifying respirators.
• Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple duties.
• Ability to pass a 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.
• Experience in hazardous waste classification, lab pack segregation, and waste handling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle, classify, segregate, label, and package materials in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Segregate chemicals by compatibility and DOT Hazard class.
• Determine which chemicals can be safely packed/consolidated.
• Perform consolidation of hazardous materials/waste safely and compliantly.
• Prepare shipping documents and coordinate transportation of chemical products and hazardous waste.
• Approve packing slips for outbound, create inventories, QA/QC, and waste tracking documents.
• Mentor new hire entry-level chemists on SOPs and provide training.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
