Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist I to assist with packaging and transporting waste, ensure safety standards, and maintain compliance documentation at customer sites. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.

The position requires a basic chemistry background, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain/Hold a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification. Travel to customer locations is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of Federal and State Environmental and Transportation regulations.
  • DOT and RCRA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, characterize & package customer waste for final disposal.
  • Assist in safely transporting customer waste in accordance with Federal regulations.
  • Assist with customer paperwork including packing lists, waste labels & shipping documents.
  • Support on-site activities at customer locations (inspections, waste collection, chemical dispensing, inventory management, housekeeping & outbound waste shipments).
  • Collaborate with team to identify suspected contents via field screening and categorization tests.
