Job summary

Pilgrims Hatchery in Pittsburg, Texas is seeking a Laborer to support hatchery operations, handle eggs, monitor incubation, assist with chick hatching, and perform quality checks under strict safety and biosecurity protocols. You will operate specialized equipment, maintain clean work areas, and follow all procedures; strong teamwork, reliability, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs are essential.

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Poultry or food industry experience is a plus.
• Able to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Able to push/pull 450 lb. buggies.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Must not raise any poultry or birds.

Responsibilities

• Handle and set eggs in incubators according to procedures.
• Monitor incubation conditions (temp, humidity, ventilation).
• Assist with chick hatching and transfer.
• Perform quality checks on eggs and chicks for health and biosecurity.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas.
• Follow biosecurity and animal welfare protocols.
• Record data on egg counts, hatch rates, and chick quality.
• Assist with chick vaccination and transport preparation.
• Other duties as assigned.
