Job summary

Shaver Transportation in Portland, OR is seeking a skilled Marine Electrician to keep our fleet of tugs, barges, and shoreside facilities running. You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and design electrical systems, working hands-on with generators, switchboards, and vessel controls to support safe and reliable operations.

The role requires 5+ years of marine electrical experience, knowledge of AC/DC theory and NEC requirements, and ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and obtain a TWIC

Qualifications

• 5+ years of marine electrical experience or comparable work
• Advanced knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory and marine grounding practices
• Familiarity with the NEC and marine electrical code requirements
• Able to pass company drug and alcohol screening and background check per Oregon/Portland rules
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain a TWIC card
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in tight spaces in all weather

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, distribution panels, and alarm/lighting circuits across the fleet
• Wire and connect electrical systems, testing with ohmmeters and voltmeters
• Read schematics and specs to plan repairs, upgrades, and installations
• Help build preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities
