Job summary

Shaver Transportation in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a Marine Electrician to maintain and repair electrical systems on our tug and barge fleet. You will work hands-on with generators, switchboards, and vessel controls to ensure reliability and safety of operations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of marine electrical experience, knowledge of AC/DC theory, NEC familiarity, and the ability to obtain a TWIC card and pass screenings as required by Oregon and Portland rules.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of marine electrical experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory and grounding practices.
• Familiarity with NEC and marine electrical codes.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain TWIC card.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair generators, switchboards, controllers and distribution panels across the fleet.
• Wire electrical systems and test with ohmmeters, voltmeters, and diagnostic tools.
• Read schematics and manufacturer specs to plan repairs, upgrades, and installations.
• Help develop preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems.
