Job summary

HBK Hottinger Brüel & Kjaer (HBK) seeks a hands-on engineering leader to run the Simulation Workbench team. SimWB is a real-time hardware-in-the-loop platform used by automotive, aerospace, and defense customers to test control systems against real hardware.

You will set direction, own delivery, and grow the group while contributing as an engineer. Expect roadmap ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering high-quality releases.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience including 3+ years leading an engineering team.
• Strong experience delivering software in a Linux environment.
• Hands-on development in C/C++, with working knowledge of Java.
• Experience owning product direction, roadmap, or technical architecture.
• Proven ownership of software releases and delivery schedules.
• Experience working with customers or customer-facing teams on escalations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the SimWB engineering team, setting priorities, tracking status, and removing obstacles so the team delivers predictably.
• Stay hands-on, contributing directly to design, code, and technical problem solving alongside the team.
• Own on-time shipment of SimWB systems, coordinating with Manufacturing for complete, tested deliveries.
• Own the SimWB release process from planning to packaging and communication of content to stakeholders.
• Oversee SimWB licensing, including license generation, demo licenses, and renewals.
• Coordinate with Support and Applications Engineering to resolve customer issues promptly and share product knowledge.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop engineers to build team depth and continuity.
• Own the SimWB roadmap and translate customer and market needs into deliverables.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI integration, that add real value.
• Report progress, risks, and resource needs to senior management.
