University of Washington’s Harborview Hand and Peripheral Clinic is seeking a Full-time Days Patient Care Coordinator. On-site in Seattle, this role supports UW Medicine and patients by coordinating pre-admission planning, scheduling surgeries, and communicating with care teams.

A bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in a hospital setting with medical terminology proficiency are required. The position offers 40 hours per week, weekday day shifts, and no telework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a medically related or public relations field is required.
• Two years of experience in a tertiary patient care setting involving interaction with a variety of medical services, patients and families, and proficiency in medical terminology.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute the minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license, certification, or registration.

Responsibilities

• Acts as primary liaison for UWMC/UW Medicine and represents departmental physicians with hospital staff, patients, families, referring physicians and outside agencies.
• Utilizes effective oral and written communication with health care professionals, patients, advocates, and hospital/clinic staff.
• May provide clinic charges and estimated charges to patients or prospective patients in coordination with Financial Services.
• Coordinates pre-admission tests and procedures and schedules pre-op planning and preparation with patients.
• Manages OR block time, releases blocks, and schedules elective OR time via the Surgical Services Website.
