Job summary

Harborview Burn and Plastic Surgery Clinic in Seattle seeks a Full-time Days Patient Care Coordinator for a six-month fixed-duration assignment. This on-site role supports perioperative scheduling, patient coordination, and liaison activities across UWMC/UW Medicine Harborview.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a medically related or public relations field and two years of experience in a tertiary patient care setting with medical terminology proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a medically related or public relations field plus two years of experience in a tertiary patient care setting involving interaction with medical services, patients and families, physicians, and terminology proficiency.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications, except where legal requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Act as a primary liaison for UWMC/UW Medicine Harborview, representing physicians to hospital staff, patients, families, referring physicians, and outside agencies.
• Communicate effectively with health care professionals, patients, and advocates across UWMC and other facilities, including insurers and external organizations.
• May provide clinic charges and estimated charges for visits, procedures, and surgeries in coordination with Financial Services.
• Coordinate pre-admissions tests and procedures.
• Schedule and communicate pre-op planning and preparation to patients; send appointments and information to patients.
• Manage OR block time; release and request OR time via Surgical Services Website.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel surgeries on the ESI system; monitor case order prior to surgery and adjust as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
