Job summary

Harborview Medical Center seeks a Full-time Days Patient Care Coordinator for the Hand and Peripheral Clinic. The role acts as main liaison among UWMC/UW Medicine, patients and physicians, coordinating pre-admission tests, pre-op planning, and surgical scheduling in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The candidate will communicate with diverse health-care professionals, review insurance requirements, and assist with charges and deposits for self-pay patients, under supervision of the Health Services

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a medically related or public relations field with two years of tertiary patient care experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

Acts as primary liaison for UWMC/UW Medicine with hospital, patients, families, and referring physicians.
Uses effective oral and written communication with health care professionals, patients, and insurers.
May provide clinic charges and estimates for self-pay patients in coordination with Financial Services.
Contacts review organizations and insurers to meet pre-authorization and referral requirements.
Coordinates pre-admission tests and procedures.
Schedules pre-op planning and communicates with patients; sends appointments and information.
Manages OR block time and requests elective OR time through the Surgical Services Website.
Schedules, reschedules, and cancels surgeries in ESI; monitors case order before surgery.
Other assigned duties.
