Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies in Baytown, TX is seeking a proactive Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience. You will greet customers, answer questions about products, and help them complete purchases with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

You will process transactions, manage various tender types, follow safety rules, and uphold company policies while maintaining a clean, welcoming store environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in a visible, friendly manner.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand POS system and handle various tenders (cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons).
• Follow policies on cash shortages/overages and prevent loss.
• Adhere to guidelines for restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to Scan Coordinator and follow postage/gift card/coupon procedures.
