Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience by greeting customers, handling transactions, and maintaining a safe, clean environment. You will operate the POS system, manage various tender types, and enforce policy on restricted items, all while upholding company values of respect and safety.

The role requires basic math skills and prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is desirable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in-store.
• Process customer transactions at the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons).
• Adhere to company policy on cash handling, shrink, and loss prevention.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs) and stay current with ads and promotions.
• Comply with food safety regulations and safety programs; report hazards to management.
• Provide helpful product information and create a welcoming store environment for customers.
