Job summary

Kroger is seeking a customer-focused Cashier/Checker at our Houston location. You will greet and assist customers, process transactions, and operate the POS system with accuracy. You’ll follow policies on cash handling, promotions, safety, and loss prevention while delivering a welcoming checkout experience.

Qualifications

Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

Greet, engage and assist customers at the check lane.
Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
Understand the POS system and handle cash, checks, debit, credit and other tenders per policy.
Adhere to cash control, loss prevention and restricted item guidelines.
Report pricing discrepancies and follow store policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
Stay current with ads and promotions and ensure food safety guidelines.
Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
Interact with customers to provide product information and answer questions.
Operate in a cooperative, professional manner in a fast-paced environment.
