Job summary

Potbelly Sandwich Works is hiring Associates in Illinois to deliver friendly, fast, and high-quality service in a busy sandwich shop environment. You’ll engage customers, assemble meals, handle cash, and keep the dining area clean and inviting.

Applicants should be 16+, ready to work in a fast-paced setting, and able to stand for long periods while lifting up to 50 lbs. Food safety certification within 30 days is required for IL applicants.

Qualifications

• You must be at least 16 years of age.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen; knife skills are a plus.
• Able to manage potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
• You're a team player.
• Able to stand/walk a minimum of 3 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Illinois applicants must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Work multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Restock food line, chips and cooler.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, etc.) efficiently.
• If 18 or older, use of the automatic slicer to prep food items.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate cash register: handle, balance and follow all cash handling procedures.
• Effectively handle customer complaints/issues.
• Takes delivery/catering/pickup orders over the phone.
• Other duties as assigned.
