Potbelly Sandwich Works is hiring for an Associate to join our fast-paced team. You will deliver friendly, efficient service, prepare quality menu items, and maintain a clean, inviting dining area.

We offer competitive pay with tips, medical/dental/vision, and various employee benefits. This role requires 16+ age, strong communication, and the ability to stand for several hours while lifting light to moderate weights. Illinois applicants may need a food safety certificate within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Age requirement: 16+.
• Customer-focused attitude and friendly demeanor.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable in a bustling kitchen; knife skills a plus.
• Ability to manage allergens (peanuts, dairy, gluten, etc.).
• Team player with a can-do attitude.
• Able to stand/walk a minimum of 3 hours.
• Able to lift 10–50 lbs as needed.
• IL applicants: must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by lead.
• Maintain health, safety, and cleanliness standards.
• Restock food line, chips, and cooler.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream).
• If 18+, operate automatic slicer to prep items.
• Clean work areas and utensils; manage trash.
• Handle cash register operations and balancing.
• Address customer complaints professionally.
• Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders by phone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
