Job summary

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission seeks a full-time Guest Care Associate to welcome and assist men in the emergency shelter, provide guest care and security, and help direct guests to services that meet their needs. A Christian witness and servant heart are essential.

Qualifications

• Christian man with a servant's heart who can relate to a diverse population.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in social work, security or related fields preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and mentoring skills.
• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
• Detail oriented with strong organization and follow-through.
• Ability to handle difficult situations with conflict resolution.
• Clear case notes according to best practices.
• Computer literacy and ability to navigate industry software.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ and align with MRM faith statements.
• Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Interact with guests and build positive, life-transforming relationships.
• Help guests understand and follow premise rules and regulations.
• Perform duties related to personal care for guests as assigned.
• Ensure linens are stocked and bathrooms are clean; notify custodial concerns.
• Collaborate with Guest Care Advocates and other departments.
• Communicate clearly within Guest Ministries and across MRM.
• Support safety and security of the Mission, people and property.
• Keep buildings secure and restrict access to restricted areas.
• Assist in removing disruptive or suspicious individuals if needed.
• Perform first aid and life-saving measures if necessary.
• Conduct breathalyzer tests when required.
• Request emergency assistance for high-risk situations.
• Identify and report security or maintenance concerns.
