Job summary

Ballard Spahr is seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to support the Litigation practice, including Antitrust, Securities Litigation, White Collar, and Government Affairs. This hybrid role requires collaboration with leadership to drive growth, strengthen client relationships, and identify opportunities.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of professional services marketing experience, with a preference for legal marketing, and strong communication, editing, and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least five years of professional services marketing experience.
• Strong preference for legal marketing and business development expertise in a large law firm (AmLaw 100 or equivalent).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, editing, and project management abilities; client service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Identify relationships and build awareness of firm capabilities with practice and industry organizations.
• Promote the firm’s services while aligning efforts with client objectives.
• Maintain a rolling pipeline to forecast targets and assist attorneys in achieving goals.
• Collaborate with Practice Group Leaders to develop strategic business development plans.
• Lead BD strategy for events, conferences, sponsorships, and related marketing activities.
• Provide guidance on positioning, messaging, and content for pitches, proposals, and RFPs.
• Manage practice group budgets and evaluate ROIs of BD/marketing expenditures.
• Provide BD coaching in group and one-on-one settings.
• Develop target lists and opportunities for new business.
• Market the lawyers' services in industry/forums through thought leadership.
