Job summary

Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager in Marketing/Communications to support Litigation practices such as Antitrust, Securities Litigation, White Collar, and Government Affairs. You will partner with department leadership and lawyers to drive growth, strengthen client relationships, and identify new market opportunities in a hybrid role with 3 days in the office.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of professional services marketing experience (legal preferred), strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; at least five years of professional services marketing experience, preferably in legal marketing and business development.
• Experience supporting Antitrust, Securities Litigation, White Collar, and/or Government Affairs in a large law firm (AmLaw 100 or similar) is highly valued.
• Strong written and verbal communication, editing, project management, analytical, and interpersonal abilities; client-centric approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to identify relationships and raise awareness of firm capabilities with practice groups and industry organizations.
• Develop and execute strategic business development plans for the Litigation practice area.
• Manage a rolling pipeline, forecast targets, and help attorneys achieve goals.
• Collaborate to plan events, conferences, and related marketing activities.
• Provide guidance on positioning, messaging, pitches, proposals, and RFP responses.
• Develop and manage practice group budgets and evaluate ROI of BD/marketing expenditures.
• Coach teams in BD at group and individual levels; build target lists for new business.
• Identify opportunities to market lawyers in industry and practice forums through thought leadership.
