Job summary

Nelnet, Inc. is seeking an experienced Group Product Manager to lead a NextGen portfolio, guiding a small team of Product Managers while shipping AI-enabled, data-driven software for higher education institutions.

You will own discovery, requirements, and the roadmap, collaborating across engineering, design, sales, and client support. A strong emphasis on governance, compliance, and measurable outcomes is required.

Qualifications

• Required: 6+ years of product management experience with a track record of shipping products.
• At least 1 year mentoring or directly managing other Product Managers.
• Experience with SaaS or platform products and AI-enabled or data-driven software.
• Ability to align stakeholders across engineering, design, and commercial functions.
• Preferred: experience in higher education technology, fintech, or payments.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end NextGen solutions—discovery, requirements, prioritization, and shipping with engineering and design.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a small team of Product Managers.
• Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap across the NextGen portfolio.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, implementation, and client support to plan launches.
• Ensure releases meet SOC, FERPA, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
