Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Needham, MA is seeking a Groundperson to support climbers and foremen in tree pruning, removal, and health/safety tasks outdoors. Your office is the job site, and you will learn Davey’s standards from day one.

This permanent, full-time role offers paid time off, health plan, 401(k) with company match, and advancement opportunities while you gain hands-on experience with cables, bracing, and rigging in a team that values safety and service.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients, including pruning, thinning and removing deadwood; installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection; removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry.

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas.

Compensation

$23-$27 Hour (Based on experience)

Job Duties

What You'll Do:

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients Including but not limited to:
• • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightening protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry!
