Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Needham, MA is seeking a Groundperson to support our tree care team outdoors. You will assist climbers and foremen, perform pruning and removal tasks, and help maintain a safe work site while delivering high-quality service to our residential and commercial clients.

This role offers on-site work with opportunities for training, advancement, and benefits typical of an employee-owned company, including a 401(k) plan and comprehensive safety programs.

Qualifications

• Willing to complete orientation program on hire.
• Willing to complete First Aid/CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully; include deadwood removal, cable/bracing installation, and hazardous tree removal.
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
• Be part of the greenspace stewardship team and contribute to safety and client satisfaction.

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas.

Compensation

$23-$27 Hour (Based on experience)

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightening protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry!

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
