Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Walpole, MA is seeking a dynamic Utility Climbing Arborist to join our outdoor team. You’ll climb and prune trees for major electric utility providers, using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems to access and work from heights safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include trimming treetops, removing damaged limbs, and maintaining your gear and tools. We offer paid time off, 401(k) with company match, health plan, and opportunities for advancement;

Qualifications

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: 3 or more years of previous climbing experience
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law

Responsibilities

• Climb trees and prune/remove as part of utility line clearance work.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged limbs from trees and structures.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Identify trees using industry pruning guidelines and ensure safe execution of tasks.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including chainsaws and chippers.

Skills

3+ years climbing experience

CDL Class A/B w/ Airbrake Endorsement

Line clearance experience

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

Compensation

$35-40 (Based on experience and certifications)

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems

• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
  • Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
  • Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
  • Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
  • Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson
