This position is responsible for providing professional grooming services for dogs using knowledge of canine characteristics and grooming styles and techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

• Deliver world-class customer satisfaction
• Answer phone calls and schedule appointments
• Assist in generating business by calling existing and new customers, scheduling appointments, follow-up calls, reminders, and verifying vaccinations
• Book appointments and greet pets as they arrive
• Report all accidents and injuries to the Store Manager promptly
• Follow bathing/grooming procedures as outlined
• Clean ears, clip nails, and perform other grooming services as needed
• Follow customer instructions for clipping patterns
• Clip dog’s hair according to the pattern, using electric clippers, combs, and shears
• Comb and shape dogs’ coats
• Use non-physical techniques to keep animals calm
• Complete and maintain customer and company forms accurately
• Adhere to safety rules and procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of cages, tubs, and grooming areas
• Assist in store operations as needed

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 1 year grooming/styling pets. Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats. Must provide own tools or be willing to purchase required tools.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of Paragon Level 1 & 2 training provided by Petsense. Any combination of education and experience will be considered. Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

Preferred knowledge, skills, or abilities

• Operate grooming tools and equipment including bathing tubs, brushes, shears, clippers, and bathing products
• Effective communication with customers
• Compassionate treatment of animals
• Attention to detail
• Accurate documentation skills
• Ability to lift pets weighing 0-50 pounds
• Flexible work hours including nights and weekends
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods
• Work safely around pets and their waste

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with moderate noise
• Exposure to wet conditions during bathing
• Interaction with pets of all sizes and temperaments
• Use of sharp grooming instruments and chemicals
• Variable shifts, generally 4-8 hours
• Adherence to safety guidelines

Physical Requirements

• Move and transfer animals and equipment up to 50 pounds
• Stand and operate equipment for extended periods
• Lift, reach, bend, kneel, and squat frequently
• Operate store equipment and complete documentation accurately
• Communicate effectively with team and customers
• Complete all required training
• This position is non-sedentary
