Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing professional grooming services for dogs, utilizing knowledge of canine characteristics, grooming styles, and techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Deliver world-class customer satisfaction.
2. Answer phones and schedule appointments.
3. Assist in generating business by calling existing and new customers, scheduling appointments, follow-up calls, reminders, and verifying vaccinations.
4. Book appointments and greet pets as they come in.
5. Report all accidents and injuries to the Store Manager promptly.
6. Follow bathing/grooming procedures as outlined.
7. Clean ears, clip nails, and perform other needed services.
8. Adhere to customer instructions regarding clipping patterns.
9. Clip dog’s hair according to determined pattern using electric clippers, combs, and shears.
10. Comb and shape dogs’ coats.
11. Use non-physical techniques to keep animals calm.
12. Complete and maintain customer and company forms accurately.
13. Observe all safety rules and procedures.
14. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of cages, tubs, and equipment.
15. Assist in store operations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year grooming/styling experience with pets.
• Comfortable working with dogs and cats.
• Must provide own grooming tools or be willing to purchase them.
• High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of Paragon Level 1 & 2 training provided by Petsense.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

• Operate all grooming tools and equipment.
• Effective communication with customers.
• Compassionate treatment of animals.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and carry pets weighing 0-50 pounds.
• Flexible working hours including weekends and evenings.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Work safely around pets and their waste.

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Exposure to wet conditions and pet waste.
• Work shifts typically no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move, lift, and transfer animals and equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Stand and operate grooming tools for extended periods.
• Bend, kneel, and squat frequently.
• Operate store equipment and complete documentation accurately.
