Job Description for Groom Technician at Petsense

This position involves interacting with customers and their pets, supporting selling initiatives, and performing grooming tasks while providing excellent customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As a Groom Technician, you should be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented. Your duties include:

• Maintaining regular attendance and working scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Supporting selling initiatives by engaging with customers and advising on products and services.
• Performing grooming tasks such as bathing, drying, brushing, trimming nails, cleaning ears, and using grooming equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensuring the safety and well-being of animals, inspecting for health issues, and practicing safety and sanitization protocols.
• Assisting with customer communication, appointment scheduling, record-keeping, and store recovery when necessary.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Experience working with dogs and cats, demonstrating patience and compassion. Must provide own grooming tools or be willing to purchase them. Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with certification through Petsense preferred. Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work indoors with moderate noise, in wet conditions, and around animals of various sizes and temperaments.
• Ability to work shifts of 4 hours or more, sometimes exceeding 8 hours.
• Commitment to safety and a productive work environment.

Working Conditions

• Indoor and outdoor work on hard surfaces, exposure to grooming instruments, pet waste, and wet conditions.
• Variable shifts, generally no less than 4 hours, sometimes exceeding 8 hours.

Physical Requirements

• Must have the stamina to move throughout the store and outdoor areas, lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and operate grooming equipment safely.
• Ability to perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, squatting, and operating store equipment.
