Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing professional grooming services for dogs using the knowledge of canine characteristics and grooming styles and techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

1. Deliver world-class customer satisfaction
2. Answer phone and schedule appointments
3. Assist in generating business by calling existing and new customers, scheduling appointments, follow-up phone calls and reminders to customers, and verifying vaccinations
4. Book appointments and greet pets as they come in
5. Report all accidents and injuries to the Store Manager promptly
6. Follow bathing/grooming procedures as outlined
7. Clean ears, clip nails, and perform other needed services
8. Adhere to customer instructions for clipping patterns
9. Clip dog’s hair according to determined pattern, using electric clippers, combs, and shears
10. Comb and shape dogs’ coat
11. Use non-physical techniques to keep animals calm
12. Complete and maintain customer and company forms
13. Observe all safety rules and procedures
14. Maintain cleanliness of cages, tubs, and grooming areas
15. Assist in store operations as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year experience in pet grooming/styling
• Comfortable working with dogs and cats
• Must provide own grooming tools or be willing to purchase them
• High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of Paragon Level 1 & 2 training preferred

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

• Operate all grooming tools and equipment
• Effective communication with customers
• Compassionate treatment of animals
• Attention to detail
• Ability to lift pets weighing 0-50 pounds
• Flexible working hours including weekends and evenings
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and operate grooming equipment

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with moderate noise
• Exposure to wet conditions and pet waste
• Work shifts typically range from 4 to over 8 hours

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move and transfer animals and equipment up to 50 pounds
• Stand and perform grooming for extended periods
• Operate store equipment and grooming tools
