Job summary

Hy-Vee’s Market Grille Assistant Department Manager in Mission, SD leads a fast-paced store kitchen team, delivering fresh, high-quality items and exceptional customer service. You’ll partner with the Department Manager to oversee daily operations, schedule staff, and ensure safety and cleanliness across the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Sanitation and food safety coursework encouraged.
• One year of similar or related experience required.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a team to deliver high-quality food and customer service.
• Review production lists, assign tasks, and manage daily kitchen operations.
• Monitor food safety, cleanliness, and proper handling of perishables.
• Manage schedules and overtime, including youth staff during shifts.
• Assist with catering items, inventory, and inter-department collaboration.
• Step into management duties in the Department Manager’s absence.
