Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Intern to join the Grid team in Atlanta on a summer 2027 start. You will assist senior engineers with calculations, designs, and project reporting across transmission, substation, renewable, and storage projects.

You’ll gain hands-on experience on procurement specs and power equipment installation services. The role emphasizes 3D visualization, Python/MATLAB scripting, and using AI tools to improve workflows.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in BS or MS in Engineering with preferred fields (Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical).
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD.
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
• Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to prioritize issues and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Work on project reporting, tracking progress, and data-related tasks.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and installation services.
