Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Reading, PA invites applications for a Substation Engineer Intern role. You will join a project team in the Grid unit and assist senior engineers on transmission, substation, and renewable projects, including energy storage systems.

You will gain hands-on experience in engineering calculations, design support, and procurement specifications while developing skills in 3D modeling, AI-powered tools, and project reporting. Summer 2027 start.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a BS or MS degree with strong preference in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering, incl. coding and 3D modeling.
• Knowledge of design techniques and ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to quickly identify issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and related data.
• Be involved in power designs and preparation of procurement specifications for major equipment.
